Calabarzon cops reminded to stay apolitical

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna (PIA) — The Police Regional Office (PRO) Calabarzon warned members of its police force to stay apolitical and refrain from engaging in partisan politics as the national and local elections heat up.

“Sa ating member ng PNP Calabarzon, based on the specific instruction of our PNP Chief Dionardo Carlos and our Regional Director Police Brigadier General Antonio Yarra, and the existing Comelec rules and regulations and laws, you are all reminded that all of us should remain true to our mandate, wala po tayong kikilingan na kandidato,” PRO 4A Regional Management Operations Chief Police Colonel Jacinto Malinao Jr., said during the Sulong Calabarzon episode aired Thursday.

Malinao also urged the public to report cops engaging in partisan politics stressing that they can report it directly to his office.

“Kung mayroon man po kayong makita or ma-obserbahan na member ng aming kapulisan na kumikiling sa kanino mang kandidato ay maaari niyo pong i-report sa aming tanggapan sa mobile number na 0915-510-8296,” Malinao said.

He stressed that all the reports they would receive would be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

“Gusto po namin kayong i-assure na ang inyong PNP sa Calabarzon will remain apolitical at wala po kaming kakampihang kandidato. True to our mandate, we will ensure the safe conduct of May 9 national and local elections,” he added.

It can be recalled that PNP Chief Dionardo Carlos has reshuffled commanders in February to ensure that the PNP remained apolitical for the May 9 polls.

The reassignment order also ensures that political candidates will not be able to use the police force to their advantage in the national and local elections. — FC, PIA Laguna
